What this place is, what is not allowed, and how moderation works.

What Inspirly is

Inspirly is a place where good deeds are told, mostly by people who saw them happen, so that reading one leads to doing another. Every deed is told by a narrator under a pseudonym and is published the moment they press Publish. Nothing is verified: a deed is one person’s account, and the narrator promises in their own words that they saw it or did it. Read it as you would a story from a friend of a friend.

Examples

Some deeds are marked Example. They are imagined, written to show how a deed is told and how it travels. They are not counted anywhere, no real deed can be linked to them, and they will be removed as real deeds take their place.

What you may tell

A deed you saw a stranger do, or one you did yourself after reading a deed here. Tell it in your own language with an English rendering. Give a city if you like, never an address. Say nothing that would let a reader identify the people in it.

What is not allowed

• Content that is exposes or harms a person
• Content that is hateful or threatening content
• Content that is sexual content involving minors
• Content that is incitement to crime
• Content that is spam or commercial content
• Content that is copyright infringement
• Content that is not a good deed
• Content that is made up
• Links, email addresses and phone numbers in a deed
• More than 0 deeds from one narrator in a day

How moderation works

Anyone can report a deed, with or without an account, choosing one of these reasons: someone in this may be in danger; harms or exposes a person; hateful or threatening; spam or selling something; seems made up; not a good deed; something else. The first report hides the deed at once; its place in the ripple remains and readers see “a deed is being looked at”. A person then reads it and decides one of three things:

• Clear. The deed is published again exactly as it was.
• Remove. The deed becomes a withdrawn deed. Its place in the ripple remains.
• Remove and suspend. The deed is removed and the narrator can no longer tell or react until the suspension is lifted.

A model also reads every deed as it is told, and asks three things: does this point at somebody who could be found, does it suggest somebody is in danger, is it itself abusive. It decides nothing. If it thinks a deed names someone findable, you are asked once before publishing and can go ahead anyway. If it thinks somebody in the deed is in danger, the deed publishes and a person is told at once. Those deeds stay visible while they wait; nothing is hidden on suspicion. Every decision names one of the rules above. The narrator sees the decision and the rule on their page and can object once, in plain text, which a person reads. A reporter who left an email receives the same decision. A short list of clearly abusive words is refused before publishing; it is about slurs, not language in general. There is no automated judgement of what is true.

Who may tell, and when

Reading Inspirly is open to everyone, always, and so is reporting a deed: neither needs an account. Telling is different. While Inspirly is opening slowly, telling may need an invitation code, given out by the person who runs it. You are asked for it once, and changing the code later never shuts out a narrator already invited.

Telling can also be paused altogether for a while, and the door can be closed to narrators who have not yet told anything, if more arrives at once than one person can read. When either happens the deeds are all still here to read, and you can still report one. These are blunt instruments used rarely, and never as a punishment: a narrator stopped this way has done nothing wrong, and nothing is recorded against them.

Your deeds and your account

You can edit a deed, which marks it as edited, and withdraw it, which removes its text and your name but keeps its place in the ripple so nobody else’s chain breaks. You can erase your account at any time; every deed you told becomes a withdrawn deed.

Inspirly is a service of Bernie Solutions AB, a limited company registered in Sweden. It is free, carries no advertising and sells nothing. Day to day it is read and moderated by one person.
